Q. Where do the show and adjudication take place?

Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, BC.

Q. Do I need to know about art to volunteer?

No, you will be given direction in each position.

Q. Where do I find out what volunteers do?

There are Job Descriptions for each of the volunteer positions on this website http://www.sidneyfineartshow.ca/volunteers/

Q. How long are volunteer shifts?

Shifts range from 3 – 5 hours depending on the position.

Q. Can I request specific shifts?

Yes, please see the Volunteer Application Form on this website.

Q. Are there positions that don’t require lifting or extended standing?

Yes, there are some, but these positions may also be stressful, so we ask that you respect the judgement of the organizers in assigning positions.

Q. Can I take breaks during my shift?

Yes, shifts can sometimes be tiring so sit down and rest for a bit. Coffee, tea and other refreshments will be provided.

Q. Do I need to bring anything (lunch etc) with me?

No, refreshments, including sandwiches will be provided.

Q. Is there anywhere for me to store my belongings while volunteering?

No there is no secure place to store things, so please leave handbags in your vehicle or wear a waist pouch for your valuables.

Q. Do I need to wear anything special?

The shifts can be tiring so your clothes and especially shoes should be comfortable.

Q. How do I find out what shifts I have been assigned?

You will be notified by the organizers of the shifts to which you have been assigned.

Q. Will someone be there to direct me to where I need to be and answer any questions I may have when I arrive to volunteer?

We always discuss the day’s activities prior to the shifts, but it helps if you prepare yourself for your assigned positions by reading the job descriptions before arriving for your shifts.
