2020 Show and Sale

The Sidney Fine Art Show and Sale is always a diverse selection of painting, sculpture, fibre arts, photography and much more guaranteed to intrigue the viewer and stimulate discussion.

The Sidney Fine Art Show and Sale is one of the largest and most prestigious juried art shows on Vancouver Island attracting over 3,000 visitors during this 3-day event.

This Show is organized and run entirely by volunteers.

This is an exclusive catered event for Patrons, Sponsors and special guests.
Guests will have the privilege to view and purchase the art before the Show opens to the public.

AWARDS PRESENTATION – by invitation only Charlie White Theatre

This event is for Artists with work accepted into the Show and their guests. The evening includes live music, a guest speaker and presentation of awards selected by the Jurors.

ARTIST & VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION RECEPTION – by invitation only
8:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Artists and Volunteers and their guests are invited to a catered reception in the main lobby. The exhibition hall is now open. Art sales are now open for all attendees.

Meet the exhibiting artists, enjoy complimentary desserts and the jazz stylings of “Kent & Rae”.

FAQs

Q. When is the best time to come to the Show?

At 10:00 AM when the Show opens or an hour or so before closing every day.

Q. Why do you include photography?

The Sidney Fine Art Show and Sale is an event of the ArtSea Community Arts Council whose mandate is to be inclusive and support all forms of art including photography.

Q. Are children welcome?

Yes and there is no admission charge for children 12 years old and under.

Q. I’m looking for my friend’s artwork. How can I find it?

There are volunteer Show Attendants circulating the gallery. Just ask one of them. They have the exhibition plan with the exact location of all pieces.

Q. How do I purchase a piece of art?

The Sales Desk is located in the lobby outside the exhibition hall. They accept major credit cards, cash or cheque.

Q. How can I become involved with the Show?

We are always looking for volunteer help from the community. If you would like to be involved throughout the year with the organization and planning, you may want to consider working on the Organizing Committee. If you would like a shorter term commitment, you may want to work one or more of the volunteer shifts for Adjudication and Show. Check out the Volunteer page.

Q. Is there parking nearby?

Parking at the Mary Winspear Centre is free. The lot can fill up quickly during busy times. Sidney has plenty of free and paid parking throughout the town which is a short walk to MWC.

Q. What is the admission fee?

General admission is $8.

Q. Is there a Senior rate or Group rate?

No.

Q. Do I have to pay for a Show catalogue?

No. Catalogues are included with your admission.

Q. Can I take the art home when I purchase it?

No. We ask that the art remain in situ until the Show closes on Sunday at 5:00 PM. Purchasers are asked to return at that time to pick up their piece(s) or make arrangements for a designate to pick up the artwork. The Sales receipt is required to authorize pick up.

Q. Is the Sidney Fine Art Show part of the ArtSea Community Arts Council?

The Show is sponsored annually by the ArtSea Community Arts Council to raise funds to support art and cultural programming and program grants in the communities of the Saanich Peninsula.
