The Sidney Fine Art Show began in 2003 and has become one of the largest and most
prestigious shows on Vancouver Island. This 3-day event now attracts 3,000 visitors to
view the art at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, BC each October on the weekend
More than 1,000 pieces of art are brought in for adjudication. The Jurors view every
piece then must choose only 400 for the Show. It is always a diverse selection of
painting, sculpture, fibre arts, photography and other media guaranteed to intrigue the
viewer and stimulate discussion. Word has spread among out visitors that this is THE
show to see.
The Sidney Fine Art Show is organized and run entirely by volunteers. The Organizing
Committee is a core group of six dedicated people who work year-round to ensure the
Show’s success. An additional 150 people willingly volunteer their time to run
Adjudication in September and the Show in October.
This is the premier annual event for the ArtSea Community Arts Council. Funds raised
go directly to support arts programming on the Saanich Peninsula.
